LANDMARK VINEYARDS AWARDS $75,000 TO SONOMA COUNTY SCHOOL AND NONPROFITS

Kenwood, Calif. | Jul 01, 2024

Landmark Vineyards has selected nine Russian River and Sonoma Valley nonprofit organizations and 15 schools as its 2024 Community Grants recipients. The grant recipients were collectively awarded $75,000, which will directly go to improving the lives of those who live in the community through funding social services programs, education, resources, and community initiatives. Since its inception in 2014, the Landmark Community Grants Program has provided nearly $800,000 to support more than 135 community programs, 135 teachers, and 61 schools.

“For the last decade, we’ve worked to support the Russian River and Sonoma Valley communities. We strongly believe that when the community thrives, the heart and soul of the businesses in it thrive, too,” said Molly Scott, director of grower and community relations for Landmark Vineyards. “These recipients have such a positive impact on the place where so many of our employees and their families live, learn, work, and play. We are honored to show our appreciation and help support their continued success.”

Landmark prioritizes education and teachers in these grants, ensuring $15,000 of the grant award is used to help fund school-related projects and allows teachers to create a positive learning environment for their students. The funding supports a range of needs from updated classroom supplies to extracurricular activities and field trips across the schools in Sonoma.

Among the 2024 recipients are:

  • Elise Allen High School Foundation: EAHS Foundation collaborates with the community to provide enriching opportunities that inspire, guide, and empower students to achieve their goals.
  • Our Village Closet: OVC improves outcomes for youth and families impacted by foster care by providing essentials, support, and community connections.
  • Russian Riverkeeper: This organization is committed to protecting the river with the help of the community and focusing on the Healdsburg Arundo removal project, which decreases fire risk by clearing invasive arundo donax plants.

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive funding from Landmark Community Grants to support our enrichment program,” said Susie Gallo, executive director of the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance. “It means a great deal to us that the grant review team recognizes the value of providing access to opportunities for our youth. Participating in these activities lays the foundation for the long-term relationships we strive to build through mentoring, and with these funds, we will be able to further the connections our mentees have with their mentors and the community.”

Grant recipients are selected by a committee of employees who volunteer to identify organizations that provide projects and services of direct benefit to local communities. Grant applications open annually in January.
